Rose McGowan was born on in Florence, Italy September 5, 1973. McGowan’s
mother is French, and her father is Irish. She was raised in an Italian
community called the “Children of God” cult. Her family relocated at Oregon
when she was 10 years old but she left them at the age of 15. She got a
variety of odd jobs to support herself before she moved in to Los Angeles to
attend a school for the arts. It was there where director Gregg Araki
discovered her while he was casting his Sundance entry “The Doom
Generation.” Araki gave McGowan the role of Amy blue, a protagonist in the
movie. “Kiss and Tell,” a 1996 thriller movie was her next stint followed by
Wes Craven’s “Scream” which was a hit. She starred in the 1997’s TV movie
“Devil in the Flesh.” McGowan’s other array of movies also included the
1997’s “Going All The Way,” 1998’s “Phantoms” where she starred with fellow
rising star Ben Affleck. She took the lead role in the movie “Jawbreaker” in
1999.
In television, she is playing the role of Paige, the baby half-sister of
Prue, Piper and Phoebe Halliwell in the hit series “Charmed” in 1998. She
was casted in the show when Shannen Doherty (Prue) refused to sign a
two-year contract extension. She was formerly engaged to rocker Marilyn
Manson (Brian Warner). |
