| Rachael Leigh Cook was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA on October 4,
1979. Cook first appeared as a model in the ads of Milk-Bone® and Tender®,
thus began her career. She was the model in the famous anti-drug commercial
wherein she was holding a frying pan, smashing an egg, and trashing
everything that she finds in the kitchen to show the harmful effects of
heroin. She got her first audition for a part in “The Baby-Sitters Club” in 1995. She returned to the theater playing the role of Becky Thatcher in “Tom and Huck” (1995) after three months. The one responsible for Cook acting at the age of 14 was her modeling agency. The agency sent her to read the short film “26 Summer Street” in 1996. Since, she was offered appearances in several independent and mini-movies. She attended the Minneapolis South High School, the same school where actor Josh Hartnett also went. She is also a student of Laurel Springs School for young actors. This school caters actors who can not attend a regular school because of other commitments. Cook’s career started to bloom when she so-starred with Freddie Prinze, Jr. in the film “She’s All that” of 1999. She transformed from a common girl to beautiful Hollywood teen actress. And this landed her to be signed up in the 2000’s “Get Carter,” starring Sylvester Stallone where Cook played as the troubled adolescent. Next came “Texas Rangers” (2001) and the movie version of the “Josie and the Pussy Cats.” |
