Piper Perabo was born in Toms River, New Jersey, USA on October 31, 1977. She has been acting and performing since high school and appeared in four yearly musicals. She graduated from the Ohio University in 1998 with a degree in theater and was a summa cum laude.

After graduation, she moved to New York and was later cast in her first movie, a short film entitled “Single Spaced” (1998). She played as the girlfriend of a wannabe rapper in her first big role movie entitled “Whiteboyz” (1999). Some of her other films are “Knuckleface Jones” (1999), “The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle” and “Coyote Ugly” in 2000.

The movie that gave Perabo the recognition as an actress is “Coyote Ugly” which was released in 2000. She played the role of Violet, “Jersey.” Violet moved to New York to pursue her dream of becoming a songwriter. For the role, Perabo took voice, guitar, piano, and bartending lessons as preparations. She won the “Best Music Moment” in MTV Movie Award for the scene where she sang/danced “One Way or Another,” and was nominated for “Female Breakthrough Performance.” Afterwards, she did a Canadian movie “Lost and Delirious” (2001), “Slap Her, She's French” (2002), and “Cheaper by the Dozen” (2003) starring Steve Martin.
