China is indeed a cradle of fruitful history. The Great Wall being so popular, a popular actress also existed in the form of Lucy Liu or otherwise known as Charlie’s Angel Alex Munday, the quick-witted, full-bodied and talented crime-fighter. Born to Chinese immigrants in Queens, New York, Lucy was raised and exposed from a different place from her native land, China.

Lucy finished her high school studies at Stuyvesant High School in year 1986 and later enrolled in New York University. But she was disheartened buy the "dark and sarcastic" ambiance of NYU forcing her to move at the University of Michigan right after finishing her freshman year. Here she graduated with a degree in Chinese Language and Culture and at the same time had a pinch of learning acting, voice, dance and fine arts.

Armed with her drive and points learned, Lucy auditioned for a cameo on a production of Alice in Wonderland but got the lead during her senior year. Because of her unfaltering desire of continuing a career in acting, she moved to LA where auditioned shared a fraction of her time apart from food service day jobs. Persistency paid off when she started to have guestings as a waitress on "Beverly Hills, 90210" in 1990 which wheeled her to walk-on part supplements in Rhea Perlman's ephemeral sitcom "Pearl" in 1996, "er" in 1994, and “NYPD Blue” and "The X-Files,” both in year 1993.

Getting a stint of a little bit of various projects, she had a first taste of the big screen as an ex-girlfriend in Jerry Maguire co-starring Tom Cruise and Renee Zellweger in 1996. Though, she has become a part of a scene in the independent movie Bang in 1999 which was put on hold for two years. Lucy landed on a strand of supporting parts in small films and afterwards landed on her biggest break for her career. Lucy, now fuller, got a role on
"Ally McBeal" wherein she initially auditioned as the persona of Portia de Rossi (Nelle Porter snagged the role instead) but David Kelly found a twist through her spunk and promised to create a part for her. She played the role of Ling Woo later – the bad-tempered lawyer later.

Able to carry the role boldly, Lucy became a part of Mel Gibson’s hard-hitting action motion picture Payback in 1999 and Play It to the Bone (1999). Boosting with her acting ability, Lucy handed larger roles in Shanghai Noon as the kidnapped Princess Pei Pei and in the sequel Charlie’s Angels both in year 2002.
On her private time, Lucy practices Kali-Eskrima-Silat (knife-and-stick fighting), rock climbs, rides horses, skis, and plays the accordion.

Inclined in arts, her anthology of multimedia art pieces was exhibited in New York at the Cast Iron Gallery in 1993 and got her to learn and craft art in China. Isn’t that an awesome action to her cultural heritage?
