Who could have thought that dreaming on the couch can come true? Of course this is a fallacy. The fact is that dreams can truly come true as long as we want them to right? With Katie Holmes, dreaming as an actress started and lives while sitting on the couch and watching her favorite movies and of course with her favorite actors and actresses.

Born Katherine Noelle Holmes, this girl-next-door was raised in Toledo Ohio and born on December 18, 1978. Armed with her innocent looks and knock-down beauty, she embarked the movie industry. Holmes got her first stint of acting at an exclusive school - Notre Dame Academy – on theatre productions.

Katie’s big break came in July of 1995 during “New York, New York" – an International Model and Talent Association convention held in New York City. Having a thought in mind that via videotape was the most possible means, it was not enough unfortunately. But fortunately, director Kevin Williamson praised Katie’s knack for acting and her naïve personality passed the criteria. Yes, the director felt it must be Katie Holmes so he had to reschedule the time for Katie to come personally in the studio for recording. But due to schedule constraints, she has another engagement in their school. At that time, she was playing the lead role in Damn Yankees and wanting not to rebuff her role, she asked for another schedule where it was granted and sooner, she got the role of Joey Potter, the innocently, quick-witted cute tomboy and Dawson Leery’s best friend where she earned $30,000 per episode.

If there could be a young television series that garnered a tidal wave of responses among viewers of this time in different geographies, it is Dawson’s Creek. The aftermath of its January 1998 premiere was at a very considerable response among viewers and critics already.

Among other movies where she showed her versatility are "Disturbing Behavior" in 1998, "Teaching Mrs. Tingle" in 1999, "Muppets From Space" in 1999, “Go” in 1999, and “Wonder Boys” in 2000.

Above all else, she was a truly gorgeous lady. Katie was also chosen as one of Teen People Magazine's "21 Hottest Stars Under 21" in 1999.
